Makins Fishery

Bazzard Road, Bramcote, Nuneaton, Warwickshire, CV11 6QJ

With over 600 swims to choose from, Makins Fishery can cater for both pleasure and match anglers alike.  If one water is booked up for a scheduled event, the fishery can put a pleasure angler on to a water where they will have an equally enjoyable day.  Matches are held on a weekly basis, and big name anglers such as Steve Ringer and Andy Findlay can regularly be seen at the complex.  Don’t be put off by the calibre of anglers visiting though, as all of them are friendly, approachable and more than willing to dish out some of their deadly tips.  Open events are held every Wednesday and Thursday.

While catching fish is an important part of any fishing trip, Makin's recognise that the modern day angler wants more than just an arm aching spell of action.  They require peaceful surroundings, well built and spaced pegs and friendly staff to approach with any queries they may have.  All of these added factors are supplied and the fishery aim to give all of their visitors the complete package.  Anglers willingly travel from as far away Newcastle and Exeter to visit this well maintained complex.

The fishery is divided into three distinct areas, each with its own car parking facilities.

Phase One: The first of the Makin Fisheries to be developed, Phase One comprises the largest of the pleasure and match waters and includes a total of five lakes ranging from six and a half acres in size to about two acres. Pole fishing is allowed on all of these waters.

Phase Two: With the exception of Lagoon and Lizard Pools, the waters on Phase Two are much smaller than those on Phase One but offer a more intimate feel because they incorporate inlets, bays, islands and irregular shapes. Although smaller in size than Phase One waters, the fish can be equally impressive.

Phase Three: The latest addition to Makin Fishery is the purpose-built Phase Three match complex which is served by its own car park and offers a total of 130 competition swims. Although only recently opened, Phase Three has been extensively planted and landscaped and provides one of the country's best match venues.
