Mixing Groundbait

Groundbait is a really important bait when you want to use a carpet of feed around a float, on the pole, or for use in a feeder. The following step by step guide to groundbait mixing will help you achieve the best results:

1. Choose A Bait. There are lots of different groundbaits out there, but we at Club Korum recommend those from the stable. Choose stickier 'Method' type mixes for deeper water or long range, or fluffier Supercrush mixes for a faster release. All groundbaits will have recommendations on about which species are best targeted with each bait, so read the packaging and you won't go far wrong.

2. Add your bait to a bucket or groundbait bowl and add small amounts of water to bind the mix together. You want the consistency of wet sand to begin with, like what you might build a sandcastle with.

3. Give the water and groundbait a vigorous mix around so all the particles can soak up the water.

4. The finished mix needs to stick together when squeezed, but break apart easily when pressed or squashed in your fingers. Then you will know you have the perfect mix.

5. Finally, keep the mix close to hand for when you are fishing. This way, you can keep loading your feeder easily from a seated position to keep the fish coming one after another!
