Unhooking Fish

Well if you've followed the steps detailed in the rest of this How To Fish Guide, you won't be far off having a fish in your net! Once you managed to get one in your net you'll need to know the safest way to unhook your prized catch to slip back to fight another day. Unhooking a fish is an important part of fishing that needs to be done correctly to prevent damaging the fish's mouth and possibly causing damage to yourself.

Lift up the head of the fish and look for where your hook is in the fish’s mouth, most of the time you will be able to slide the hook out from the top or bottom lip easily. If the hook is far back you will need to get your disgorger out of the pack. Hold your line to the hook tight, slot your line into the gap on the bottom of your disgorger pointing down towards the hook. Next you need to slide the disgorger down to the hook, push down on the disgorger the opposite way to which the hook point is entering, pull the whole rig out, put the rig to the side and you are ready for your catch picture.
